Transforming Business Processes with Automation and GenAI
Introduction
A membership with Peeriosity-100 includes nine separate research areas, with an Intelligent Automation research area launched in 2017 with the arrival of Robotic Process Automation. The hot topic in 2025 is GenAI, with every software related vendor claiming to have GenAI capabilities, and leading GenAI software solutions that claim to be “game-changing” with a reach that will touch virtually every employee and every process.
As companies think about how to leverage GenAI to improve businesses processes, in addition to valuable resources like consulting firms, software vendors, and queries using GenAI, collaboratively sharing ideas openly in a private research community like Peeriosity-100 is an excellent way to test your ideas and ask questions about the approaches of leading peers in safe environment. Plus, comments are candid and honest, with full disclosure of which company is commenting, and with the ability to directly connect after the Peercast with the presenters or with other attendees for additional discussion. Why go it alone, or rely solely on outside experts when you can learn directly from the experiences of your peers?
Company Experience
During a one-hour Peercast, GenAI project leaders at a Peeriosity-100 member company discussed how they are using GenAI tools like Aria, Copilot, and GPT-4.1 to streamline and scale key business processes.
Key learnings from the presentation included a listing of GenAI enabled automation opportunities, and a separate list of more quantitative analysis opportunities with GenAI.
GenAI-Enabled Automation Opportunities:
- Customer Credit Analysis
- Customer credit is assessed at multiple points in the lifecycle using financial data and public sentiment information. Traditional automation will gather this data, while an AI model will recommend approval status and explain its reasoning.
- Manual Order Entry
- Several customers submit their own order forms in varied formats. OCR and an AI model will interpret these forms and generate structured data for entry into the S/4 system.
- Customer Relations Interactions
- Incoming web form submissions will be categorized by AI, which will also propose responses or actions based on the customer relations knowledge base.
- Procurement Pricing Updates
- Price updates from suppliers arrive in diverse formats and frequencies. AI will help extract and apply these updates to S/4, adapting to seasonal and supplier-specific patterns.
GenAI-Enabled Analysis Opportunities:
- Deduction Trends
- Leverage Copilot to analyze customer deduction trends to determine if patterns can be identified with specific customers, time of year, brand, season, etc.
- Order Consolidation Analysis
- Analyze whether manually consolidating less than truckload orders into truckload orders improves or reduces supply chain efficiency and value.
- Customer Order Audit
- Utilize AI to investigate whether customers ordering habits warrant favorable pricing schedules.
- Resume Scraping
- Leverage AI to review and prioritize candidate resumes based on defined criteria.
One important consideration discussed was the need to upskill talent to take advantage of new GenAI opportunities. The following chart highlights some ideas for upskilling talent:

With many Peeriosity-100 member companies represented on the Peercast, there was the opportunity for Peercast attendees to drill-down into the details, with several companies also sharing specific examples of their experiences to-date with GenAI.
Closing Summary
For Peeriosity-100 members, there is no reason to go it alone, wondering and guessing how other leading companies are approaching the many common Shared Services/GBS business problems. By being part of a private research community, their global teams have direct access to case studies and specific examples, which can be a valuable roadmap for creating a realistic plan that has a high probability of being successful.
Who are your peers and how are you collaborating with them?

Peercasts are private, professionally facilitated webcasts that feature leading member company experiences on specific topics as a catalyst for broader discussion. Access is available exclusively to Peeriosity-100 member company employees, with consultants or vendors prohibited from attending or accessing discussion content. Members can see who is registered to attend in advance, with discussion recordings, supporting polls, and presentation materials online and available whenever convenient for the member. Using Peeriosity-100’s integrated email system, Peer Mail, attendees can easily communicate at any time with other attending peers by selecting them from the list of registered attendees.
