Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once considered the primary method for vendors to communicate with Accounts Payable<\/a>, providing phone support for vendor inquiries has fallen out of favor as other methods have become both more efficient and less costly.\u00a0 Even with the most sophisticated phone systems where basic requests for payment status can be answered by a chatbot, providing quick access to a live person can be costly and is often an unnecessary level of vendor support.<\/a><\/p>\n

iPolling Results Review<\/strong><\/p>\n

A recent Peeriosity poll examined how Peeriosity member companies receive inquiries from vendors, and the status of efforts, if any, to eliminate phone support for vendors.<\/p>\n

The poll results indicate that for 75% of Peeriosity member companies, email has the highest volume of inquiries and is the preferred method, with an additional 10% indicating that email is the highest volume of inquiries, however it is not the preferred method.\u00a0 Only 10% reported that the phone has the highest volume of inquiries, with no responses suggesting inquiries using the phone was the preferred method. \u00a0Here are the details:<\/p>\n

The next polling question asked about the status of efforts to eliminate phone support for vendors.\u00a0 Interestingly, 32% of companies haven\u2019t considered eliminating phone support, with an additional 24% considering the idea of doing so.\u00a0 Of those considering this approach, 29% have implemented it for all vendors, 5% have implemented it for most vendors, and 5% have implemented it for some vendors, with an additional 5% who have approved this approach, but have not yet implemented.<\/p>\n
